Hello and welcome to the home page of the west Midlands Concert Band. We are a group of approximately 50 musicians who get together every week and for rehearsals and concerts. We play at many venues such as fetes, concert halls, church's, band stands etc.
We were formed from a group of players who were previously with the Wolverhampton Community Concert Band which used to rehearse at Highfields School in Wolverhampton under the baton of David Gray. That band ceased to exist following the withdrawal of funding by the Adult Education Service in September 1992. We then moved our rehearsal venue to Darlington Street Methodist Church hall and we later acquired a new musical director, Derek Craft.
We stayed at Darlington Street until November 1999 when we re-located to The Newhampton Centre in Wolverhampton. We now practice on Thursday nights at 1930 at the YWCA, Claverley Drive, Warstones. We welcomed a new conductor in January 05, Charles Brown. Charles stayed with us for a year and did a wonderful job but sadly had to leave us due to other commitments. Since early 2006 we had the pleasure of welcoming Stuart to conduct the band who continued Charles good work. Recently we have welcomed Mr Craig Sproston to be our musical director.
